Abbotsbury Recreation Ground
The Abbotsbury Recreation Ground is located at the end of Seaway and Hannahs Lane.
There is no parking adjacent to the facility but there is a village car park located on Rodden Row.
There are toilets located on Back Street
Portesham Play Area- The Glebe
The Play area is located off Winters Close which is accessible from Winters Lane, please note this is a residential area and adjacent to the Portesham School there is limited parking especially during school term times.
The play area site only is leased to the Parish Council from Salisbury Diocese and the PC maintains the site.
Langton Herring Play and Amenity Areas
The facility is located off Chapel Lane, there is a large amenity area with access from behind the village hall and a play area.
There is very limited on street parking, and there are no toilets in the village.
Chesil Recreation Ground
Chesil Recreation Ground was conveyed to the then parish council in 1838 for recreation, since that time it has been used for Football, Cricket, village events, Scouting, Allotments and grazing.
In the late 1940’s there was a Portesham Cricket team who were based on the site then in the 1980’s the Portesham Football Team used the site as their home ground. The pavilion has fallen into disrepair since the team moved away.
The Tennis Court is in need of renovation but was used by a local Tennis Club until 18 years ago. We have purchased new posts and nets but the surface needs redoing.
The Parish Council are in the process of gathering designs and quotes to renovate the area, update the tennis Court to a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) install picnic benches, new football posts for 5-a-side games and more to keep this site as a family area for the whole of Chesil Bank Parish.
We now have a Dog Agility group using the site on a regular basis.
Running along the bottom of the site is a stream that comes from Portesham and runs all the way to the Fleet
The site has a waterless toilet, mains water and sewerage has been installed for a future date.
There is plenty of parking on site.
